TURKEY MEETING
First partnership meeting in Turkey within the frame of Comenius Programme entitled “The Youngest Entrepreneurs of Europe”. The meeting took place in ESKİŞEHİR from November 28 to December 3, 2010. Teachers and students from CAHIT KURAL Primary School were responsible for the organization of the meeting. This was the initial meeting of the multilateral project’s members, in the organising country. The meeting is part of the multilateral Comenius project that the school is having with six different schools from Europe.
A visit to the largest Borax mine in the world was organized, visit during which was presented the entire extraction, processing and preparing for shipping process of the product that has a very large array of uses for medical appliances, fireproofing and others.
The participants discussed the different developpement and life levels in the participant countries and the communities that each school represented, all with the purpose of finding together applicable entrepreneurship ideas.
Partners discussed some business ideas and took part in the sample lesson observations.
Trips and sightseeing tours occurred to be a great form of showing us the beauty of the local landscape.However, the most important for the project were the meetings at school, during which, partners presented briefly their countries, cities and more precisely their work at school, teachers and students involvement in the project and the activities undertaken within the project. Many useful discussions concerning the projects aims and ideas were proceeded, as well as many conclusions were drawn.
During the meeting, the teachers have had the occasion to present their countries’ educational systems, discussing the similarities and differences between them and their education laws, but also the difficulties encountered by the teachers in every day life.
During the first meeting all the partners had a chance to get to know each other better and to become acquainted in reality. Since the first days, the participants were introduced to the Turkish culture and customs. Teachers and students prepared a fascinating welcome ceremony in which they presented traditional Turkish dances, songs, music and food. Visiting the local authorities and speaking with the mayor of the city helped us to learn more about the country and region.
